There is a very well machined screw-head on the end to make screwing these insulators into position a fairly simple task and at 8mm thick steel, they are the strongest offset insulator for horses on the UK market. The pigtail end on these posts is an extension of the steel shaft (not an additional piece) and has a thick green plastic coating which is UV resistant.

There is a shorter 5 inch version here but if you are finding that you need a permanent extra long insulator to hold your horse rope then these are the ideal solution.
