Patura P40 9v Electric Fencing Energiser
Price:
£120.00
Including VAT at 20%
Quantity:
This model of fencer is the next size up from the P20 so the has more power but also some extra features which make it different from most other 9v and 12v energisers.
This has an output power of 0.23 Joules so a 2km fence can easily be powered by this. The official length this can power is 1.9km but we think this to be on the conservative side and we know of fences nearer 2.5km that are using these energisers.
Normally this unit would be run by a 9v dry battery and a 55Ah battery is supplied with it so it will work 'straight out of the box'. Dry batteries are non-rechargeable and must be replaced when they run out. Alternatively this energiser can also be run from a rechargeable 12v battery when using connecting leads.
This electric fence energiser has several features which make it stand out from the crowd. There is a fence and battery monitor and a rotary switch which gives several power and battery saving settings.
As with all 9v energisers this comes with it's own earth spike and connection leads. The earth spike is pushed into the ground and the energiser slots onto it. One lead goes from the red 'power' terminal to the fence conductor(tape, rope, etc) and the earth lead goes from the earth terminal to the earth stake.
The P40 has a 3 year guarantee and a larger model in this range and can be seen here.
As with all 9v energisers we do not recommend these for use with electric netting.
Setting Options
Fence Voltage Indicator
when the energiser is on any of the 4 power options this indicator will flash with each pulse and give an indication as to the power within your electric fence.
Top Green Light - Fence voltage over 5000v(optimum)
Middle Green Light - Fence voltage 2500-4900v(satisfactory)
Bottom Red Light - Fence voltage under 2500v(insufficient)
Battery Voltage Indicator
When on this setting the lights are set to be permanently on. The number of lights displayed shows how much power is left in your battery.
Top Green Light - Battery voltage over 7.1v
Middle Green Light - Battery voltage 5.5-7.0v
Bottom Red Light - Battery voltage below 5.5v
Slow Mode
With horses and cattle this mode can be used once they are used to the fence. Initially they should be kept on a higher setting but after a while this setting can be used to slow the pulse rate of the fence energiser. This will help save battery power.
Night Safe Mode
A rather handy setting that drops the pulse rate of the energiser during hours of darkness. Perfect for slow moving animals like cattle.
Half Power Mode
This is ideal for fencingin animals that will only need minimal power to keep them in. Dogs, cats, cattle and horses that are quite used to electric fencing are easily contained when the fencing unit is set to this. As it conserves power, it will be cheaper to run.
Full Power Mode
This is the setting that most energisers are set to by default and will put a good strong pulse down the fenceline. Any animal that has not experienced electric fencing before should have a week or so at this level just to get them used to it. Most livestock will be able to be contained using a lesser setting but more stubborn animals may need to be kept at this level.
